Canadian Bronchiectasis & NTM Registry

The first comprehensive Canadian non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections and bronchiectasis clinical database. Canada currently lacks a dedicated NCFB or NTM registry; we are building one to support collaborative research and multi-centre clinical trials.

Aims: characterise current NCFB and NTM care across Canada, identify opportunities to better support healthcare providers, enable research into disease pathophysiology and natural history, and engage therapeutic development and trials.

Enrolment: 235 participants across two specialised Calgary clinics.

pulmonology

Non-CF bronchiectasis (NCFB) is a cycle of infection and inflammation that damages and scars the airways. We study why some patients enter that cycle and others do not - and what microbial signals predict who will.

biotech

The airway microbiome is highly individual; classical pathogen overgrowth only partly explains exacerbations. We profile composition and metabolic activity across stable and exacerbation phases.

insights

Translation is the point. We use modelling to identify microbiome signatures that predict infection risk and disease trajectory, with the goal of personalising clinical intervention and improving long-term outcomes.
